CAIRO – 29 March 2026: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, participated in a quadrilateral ministerial meeting on Sunday, March 29, in Islamabad. The meeting brought together Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud to discuss ongoing regional developments and efforts to de-escalate rising tensions.
According to Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the talks focused on enhancing coordination in response to the rapidly evolving and dangerous military escalation in the region. The ministers emphasized the importance of prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue to contain the crisis and mitigate its serious implications for regional security and stability.
Discussions also covered ongoing joint efforts to reduce tensions, including encouraging the launch of a negotiation track between the United States and Iran. The ministers warned of the significant economic consequences of continued escalation, particularly its impact on international navigation, global supply chains, food security, and energy markets amid rising oil prices.
During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty stressed the need for coordinated regional and international action to contain the situation, reaffirming that diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path forward. He expressed hope that joint efforts would help reduce tensions and pave the way for a gradual de-escalation process leading to an end to the conflict.
He also underscored the importance of developing comprehensive regional frameworks to strengthen collective security and establish effective implementation mechanisms, describing this as a strategic necessity to address unprecedented challenges to the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of countries in the region.
The meeting concluded with agreement among the four countries to maintain close coordination and consultation in support of de-escalation efforts, regional stability, and preventing further expansion of the conflict.
